Your Facebook newsfeed and YouTube home page are plastered with these headlines.
This blog isn't about the benefits of AI-generated content. Don't get me wrong. AI is here to stay and I'm sure that you're already using AI copywriting tools for your own content. I'm using it too. But as you jump in like everyone else, here's 3 Things You Need to Know so that you don't get burned.
It's Getting Easier Than Ever to Detect AI Copy -- How ironic, isn't it, that AI is being used to detect content written by AI. Don't just blindly copy and paste AI-generated copy into your emails and blogs. The last thing you want is to get called out for publishing blatant AI-generated content.
Run your copy through AI Content Detectors -- and not just one. Use many. Here's a brief list of some free ones that I use:
You'll Sound Like Everyone Else -- It's up to you. If you're afraid of standing out, and you just want to sound like everyone else because it's safer to do so, then have at it. But just remember: AI-generated content is all based on statistical (albeit highly sophisticated) calculations. Therefore, by definition, original content is a statistical anomaly that is rejected by AI's statistical models as an outlier. As a result, much of the content you'll get back in your AI copywriting tool are words that are statistically "in the majority." Meaning, you'll be saying what everyone else is saying.
It Only Gets Worse -- Now's the best time to jump into the AI pool because very shortly, it's going to get polluted. The reason is that right now, most of the content that AI uses for their models is all original content written by humans. However, all your AI-generated content that you publish will become available for consumption by AI-generated content tools.
As more AI-generated content is added back into the pool, future AI models will become trained on AI-generated content and not on human-generated content. So, all the mistakes and errors that are inherent in the AI models become ingested and used to train future AI models.
We've seen examples of this phenomenon in everyday life. How many times have you seen a photocopy which is clear a photocopy of a photocopy of a photocopy of a ...
What can you do about it? AI is here to stay -- for at least a little while longer.
Here's some tips for responsible using AI-generated content in your emails, your blogs, and your sales funnels:
Use AI-generated content tools only as a starting point. AI copywriting tools can give you promising ideas for starting out your copy. But take those ideas, make them your own, and express them from your point of view in your own voice. And don't just paraphrase the content like we used to do when writing our reports in grade school. Take an AI-generated idea and reach into your own life's experiences. How might you express a point using an incident from your own life?
Do your research. Don't just blindly accept the output you get as the Gospel Truth. AI models are fallible; don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Make sure that you independently research every claim and every quote that your AI-copywriting tool gives you.
Use AI Content Detectors -- the more the merrier. I can't emphasis this point enough. Don't be lazy. Don't wait for a massive lawsuit to tell you that you've claimed copyrighted material as your own.
